Trust Comes Before Adoption, Not After
Most digital adoption strategies are built around removing friction: fewer steps, faster onboarding, one-tap sign-up. That works when the product is low-stakes. It works much less well when the product touches someone's money or their health.
In those categories, the real blocker usually isn't friction — it's trust. A customer who doesn't yet believe a company will treat them fairly won't be moved by a shorter form. They need a reason to believe first: a clear explanation, a human touchpoint, a track record they can see.
Sequencing that correctly — trust-building messaging before the onboarding funnel, not layered on top of it — is what actually moves adoption numbers in categories like insurance and banking.
