Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information monicachege.com collects when you use the contact form or newsletter sign-up, how that information is used, and the third-party services involved in handling it. It applies only to this website — not to Monica Chege’s or SevenP’s social media profiles, or to any third-party site you reach by following a link from here.

Information We Collect

This site collects information directly from you in two places:

• Contact form (/contact) — your name, email address, and the message you write. Optionally, whether you tick the box to join the newsletter.
• Newsletter sign-up (footer, on every page) — your email address only.

Standard technical information — such as IP address and browser type — is also logged automatically by our hosting provider (Vercel) as part of normal web server operation, as it is on virtually every website. This site does not use this information to identify you individually.

How We Use Your Information

• Contact form submissions are used solely to read and respond to your enquiry.
• Submitting the contact form triggers one automated confirmation email to the address you provided, letting you know your message was received.
• Your email address is only added to the newsletter list if you explicitly tick the opt-in box on the contact form, or sign up separately through the newsletter box. It is then used to send occasional updates and new Insights articles, and nothing else.

This site does not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

Third-Party Services We Use

To make the contact form and newsletter work reliably, submitted information passes through a small number of trusted third-party services, each acting as a data processor on our behalf:

• Formspree and EmailJS— deliver contact form submissions to Monica’s inbox.
• Resend and EmailJS — send the automated confirmation and welcome emails.
• Mailchimp — stores and manages the newsletter mailing list, and sends newsletter emails.
• Vercel — hosts this website and its underlying data storage.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on our behalf. None of them are permitted to use your information for their own marketing purposes.

Cookies

This site does not use cookies to track or profile visitors. The only cookie in use is a private, secure session cookie for Monica’s own login to the site’s content management area — it has no effect on, and collects no information from, ordinary visitors.

This site is built to support Google Analytics and/or Google Tag Manager, which use cookies to measure site traffic, but neither is currently active. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.

Data Retention

Contact form submissions are kept for as long as needed to respond to and follow up on the enquiry, then deleted. Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe — every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately.

Your Rights

Under Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019, and as a matter of good practice for visitors anywhere, you have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. To exercise any of these rights, email chegemonicah@gmail.com — requests are handled directly and promptly, since this is a small, single-person operation rather than a large organisation with a dedicated privacy team.

Children’s Privacy

This site is intended for a professional, adult audience and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes — for example, if analytics is switched on, or a new service is added to the contact or newsletter flow — this page will be updated and the date at the top revised accordingly.
